NaPoWriMo 2015 Day 25

From Chris:

“Acronyms. Write a poem that is at least 25 words. Can you write one that is 20% Acronyms, One where every 5 words is an acronym?”

life’s a PICNIC

and its all a FUBARed mess
talking about CLAW
not knowing what it all meant
or why they were both NUDES

PICNIC a tech support term meaning Problem In Chair Not In Computer
NASA National Aeronautics and Space Administration
NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
FUBAR Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition
CLAW Cartoonist’s League of Absurd Washingtonians

From me:

A Novem is a form created by poet Robin Skelton. The Novem consists of three line stanzas each line is only three words, in the first line the first two words are monosyllabic the third has two syllables, the second line the second word has two syllables the rest one, in the third line the first word is two syllables and the others one. Each stanza is held together with consonance. They can have as many stanzas as you want. Write a Novem.

small car bursting
with smiling clowns
every one, dead

dead clown poems are fun
not for the clowns of course
but nice and unexpected imagery
and they are smiling
which makes it even more… interesting? creepy?
except the sad one
he was still alive

sad clown frowning
the others gone
away, now he

will be facing
a very long
sentence in the

big top

felony pie-ing?
driving while melancholy?
reckless hijinks?
criminal shenanigans?

I don’t know how to finish it, so here’s another Novem, sans the dead clowns.

one Spring evening
sun setting low
shining on the

small blue blossoms
blue petals of

grew quiet knowing
their memories like
moonlight will melt

but the sunlight
it wasn’t done
shining on small

blue blooms waiting
for moonshine to
waken thoughts of

past times shining
through flower dreams
always in Spring

when sun lingers
and flowers sigh
forget the sun

we want moonlight
and darkness where
whispers keep time

and night lingers
warm flowing glow
shining from moon

the moon blossoms
a flower in
Spring-time night sky
