NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 4

Another prompt from Chris Jarmick, and again it seems strangely familiar…

Find the instructions for something (an Ikea instruction works well) and write a poem that alternates a line of instructions and lines of poetry.

I didn’t mean it to be so dark… but here it is, and its pretty dark… not a bad start but pretty bleak none the less.

Enjoy 🙂

Making Paper Snowflakes

1.Fold the paper in half diagonally to make a triangle.

try folding night
make a mask to hide behind

2.Now, fold the triangle in half so the pointy corners meet.

the pointy corners
should never meet
but they always do

3.Fold your triangle in thirds. …

and keep folding
keep mangling yourself to fit a dark little box
no stars tonight

4.Cut across the bottom of your paper so it is straight.

and keep cutting
cut deeper
cut cleaner
remove any excess
any feelings you may still have
any hope

5.Cut your folded paper so it looks like the triangle above.

like every other triangle above

6.Then unfold it gently.

its all you have left

  1. Yikes!!!! Yep definitely some dark sub-conscious stuff going on.  I know the feeling….good to get it out. AND. . .  if you have a couple more prompt ideas… I have a couple of so-so prompts and a couple of slots later in the month still open…. so share a few if you got ideas….. Christopher J.
