NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 13

From Chris:

Find one or two of your favorite quotes and write a poem that incorporates the ideas of that quote in a poem in some way. A poetic riff on the quote also works. Do share the quote as well. Don’t use any part of the quote in the poem.

“I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.”
Stephen Hawking

“We are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts, is that the universe is in us.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson

“In science, if you don’t do it, somebody else will. Whereas in art, if Beethoven didn’t compose the ‘Ninth Symphony,’ no one else before or after is going to compose the ‘Ninth Symphony’ that he composed; no one else is going to paint ‘Starry Night’ by van Gogh.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson

no one has ever written this before
those who have tried
were all mysteriously hit by cars
cars made of the universe
a universe
which doesn’t pay attention
except to Beethoven and van Gogh
but not to pedestrians
no matter which way they look
while they are crossing the road
instead of writing this
